Check out the Ultimate Dart Frog Terrarium!

Over the past few years I have had many customers ask for a nice terrarium to be delivered more or less complete to their home or business. As far as I know there is not a source for such a terrarium in the US, so I thought I would take a stab at offering one for my customers.
I decided on acrylic for the tank, since acrylic is a little easier to ship than glass, and offers excellent clarity, compared to glass. Acrylic is also fairly easily bent, and the tanks we offer feature nice bent front corners which are a great improvement over the seams in the corners of glass tanks.
The tanks we are offering are designed with dart frogs in mind, however with minor modifications they can be used for any rainforest or humidity loving animals. Tanks are available in three different categories.
The first are the smaller ready set up tanks, the 22 inch cube tank with one of our two 17 square backgrounds mounted in the tank. These run around $400, shipping not included, more info below.
The second category is our mid size tanks with one of our larger cast inserts installed in the tank. These tanks are nicer than most zoo displays, and offer a complete system for housing your frogs (or other rain forest dwellers) in spectacular style. These tanks are offered as complete units, and start at about $1200 and going up to around $2500. These tanks range in size from 24 square by 32 high, to 48long by 32 high
The third category is custom design work. We can fabricate a complete tank based on your specifications. Whether you are in an institutional setting and want to set up something truly spectacular, or you have a high traffic office setting and want to have something different from the usual fish tank, contact us and we can design something for you. Cost for these tanks is generally between six thousand and fifteen thousand dollars.
Please drop me a note and we can discuss your new terrarium! Or for the smaller tanks, use the buy it now button to place your order. I will be in touch shortly to discuss the time frame for delivery. Delivery of the smaller tanks can be done through Fed Ex Ground, larger tanks and stands will be shipped via motor freight.
22 Acrylic Cube tanks- this tank measures 22 square, by 22 high. The tank features .022 inch thick crystal clear acrylic, with bent corners for a more attractive finish and better viewing. The tank offers two doors. The daily use door is located on the left side of the tank. This is the door you will use to do all your routine service, such as feeding and cleaning. The door is built in such a way as to be escape proof for both frogs and fruit flies and other feeders. The second door is located in the top of the tank, and is a simple drop in panel. The opening is approximately 16 square. This door is not visible when the canopy is in place, and will be used to set up the tank, and perform any major service in the tank.
This tank can be out fitted with either of our cast backgrounds, the Rock Waterfall or the Mayan Ruin. Backgrounds will be installed with a tree fern panel surround, and drip lines, three on the background and one on each side in the tree fern panel. The pump will already be hooked up, and ready to plug in.
Tank comes with ventilation holes along the top of the tank. These ventilation holes, and one in the back of the tank, along with the included fan kit, will allow you to control the tanks humidity.

Finishing the tank
You will need to supply plants, substrate, lighting and other decorative items to complete the tank. We offer most of these products here, and the tank is available as a kit with every thing but the substrate and any accessories such as power strips, timers, etc.
Complete the 22 Tank With This Kit!- A complete package for any of the 22 inch tank options above would be $350 additional, and would include every thing but the substrate, specifically you would receive the canopy, small oak base(for placing tank on stand or table you provide), 2 x 55 watt light system, ten terrarium plants, two bromeliads, a terrarium décor pack consisting of manzanita, cork bark, tropical leaves, terrarium moss, and a coconut hut. This kit ships in two parts, ground for the canopy, base, light kit and other non living items, and second day shipping for the plants. Larger tanks with Cast Inserts
Currently we have two larger pieces that can be installed in mid size acrylic tanks, resulting in spectacular display tanks. The first is a rock water fall with stone base. This piece is about 30 inches high, and about 20 inches wide. Water flows from a source about half way up the back wall, and runs across the base piece. The tank can be setup with a substrate around the rock base, allowing for more room for frogs (as seen in the photos to the right), or with a water moat around the base piece, with a depth of up to around ten inches. Fish can be kept in this tank, along with the frogs. Various plant mounting sites on the rock work will allow vines and orchids to be mounted on it. This piece can be installed in tanks as small as our 22 inch cube, (some of the water fall background has to be cut off to do this), but it will look best in tanks at least 32 inches high. It can be combined with one of our terrarium rocks in a longer tank for a larger water feature.
The second cast piece is our Mayan Ruin, and is actually a set of three pieces. There is a main background panel, with the face, a trim background panel, and the cobble floor piece. These pieces are about thirty two inches long, and can be installed in tanks 32 inches long or longer, and about 22 inches high, or higher. This is a unique piece which evokes the influence of ancient human civilizations on the jungles these frogs come from.
Both these pieces are available for purchase for you to install in your own tanks, and range in price from $150 to around $300. Acrylic tanks set up with these pieces and fully furnished with oak stands, canopies, lighting systems and all needed equipment run between $1200 and $2500.
We will continue to develop additional pieces to add to this line, a tree buttress and a larger stone background are both slated to be ready for installation in tanks by early 2008. |
