Vietnamese Mossy Frog
Theloderma corticale
A few years ago, a friend of mine gave me a price list that had these frogs listed on it, along with some photos. I was fascinated, the frogs were beautiful, but I was a little put off by the price, which was $400 each. However a couple of years ago they began appearing at about a third that price, and I finally decided to try a group of them.
I have thoroughly enjoyed them, they have proven relatively easy to keep and breed. The colors are amazing, and they have a quiet call that is not at all what you would expect from a frog! |

This frog does not require a particularly large tank, a twenty tall or thirty long should be large enough for three or four. They do require a terrarium with plenty of water, and a pool that makes up most of the bottom of the tank is needed. Moving water is not required, but filtering it will help in keeping water clean. |

Good. Often rests during the day in view….if you can spot them! |
Yes, do well in groups as long as they are not overcrowded. |

Caution should be used, any frog or other animal that is small enough to be eaten will be. |

Status in Hobby |
Probably best bred in groups, but I have not tried keeping and breeding just a pair. |
Still not well established, but should become more common as time goes by. |
